Starting a fitness journey can be difficult and you might feel like you have no idea where to even begin. So much information is out there so it's hard to choose the right ones for you. A personal trainer will surely help you with it but motivational tips can also be a great guide in the beginning.
So if you are someone that is looking to get into fitness but have a hard time with the beginning, this blog will give you some tips & recommendation for the best way to start.
1. Set A Goal & Commit To It
It's much easier to start anything you want to when you know why you want to start it. It's applicable for your fitness journey as well. As your first step find your reasons and whys. This can be something like "I want to start my fitness journey because: I want to feel better about my body / I want to be healthier / I want to look good for my holiday / I want to drop down to a certain dress size etc." When you've found this the next step is to set a goal.
Goals can be short-term & long-term and the best way is to set both. A short-term goal should be about something you can easily start working on right now ex.: "My short-term goal is to start working out for 30 minutes 2x a week". You can check back a week later to see if you've achieved it.
A long-term goal should be around for the next 3-6 months and could be something like: "I want to lose 10 kgs or drop down to a certain size". For this one check back every week to see if you're progressing. Make sure you set goals that are realistic and maintainable for the long run. Final step is to commit yourself to your goal & keep working towards it.
2. Find A Training Style That Works For You & Not Against You
The second tip I have for you is a simple one. You want find a workout type & style that is first of all connected to your goal so if your goal is for example to tone up, you would achieve that with weight training. Another important aspect is that working out shouldn't be a punishment so find an activity that is not only connected to what you want to achieve but it's something you also enjoy doing. If a certain workout doesn't feel right, don't push it, there are always other ways that you can choose to achieve your goal. By this you're much more likely to transform your training into a lifestyle & exercising becomes part of your daily routine.

3. Start Small
If you haven't worked out before, don't feel like you need to do long & intense workouts. Start today with 5 minutes of easy exercises & tomorrow increase it a bit. Have patience with yourself, no one starts being super fit doing advanced exercises. If you always increase the difficulty in your workouts bit by bit, your body will be able to do more and more.
4. Keep Consistency & Find Balance
Both consistency & balance are key factors in achieveing your goal. Your body needs time & repetation to change so without keeping a routine your results will be mixed & you might not be able to maintain it. On the other side there will be times when you can't or just simply don't want to workout and that's okay. Pay attention to your body and you will know if you're just looking for excuses not to exercise or you are really not able to. By keeping your routine up around 80% of the time, you will still have that consistency, you will be able to achieve your goals but you will also be able to let go of the need that you always have to workout no matter what.

These are just 4 simple tips that can make your journey easier and less confusing in the beginning & I hope these tips will help you if you're starting your fitness journey or just need some motivation to restart it.
Stay Happy & Healthy,
Sofi
