Mind-Body Connection - Does It Affect Fitness Results? | Sofi's Fitness

During your workouts have you ever noticed yourself thinking about what you're going to do today or about something that already happened? It's easy for the mind to just wander off, especially if you've already got used to exercising. From my own experience I found that in order to maximize results from the workouts, the best thing to do is to be present. That means only focusing on your workout, and nothing else. By this you become aware of your body & movements & you'll be able to perform the exercise better than before. So when you next workout instead of doing the movements automatically, try to bring your attention to the present moment & your body and see the difference it makes.
Some tips to help mind-body connection:
1. Plan your workout ahead
It's much easier to stay focused on what you're doing when you have a plan. Instead of trying to come up with the next exercise or set, write it down in advance so you can pay full attention to your body.
2. Prepare yourself
Choose a time for your workout in advance and try to stick to it as much as you can. When it's time to exercise, prepare your equipment & water and just take a few deep breaths in, let go of what you did or have to do & bring your attention to how your body is feeling and when your feel ready, start.
3. Pay attention to your thoughts
Thoughts have a huge effect on how we feel & what happens around us, so your inner dilogue can be a great help with motivation & pushing forward. If you had a bad day & just simply can't stay positive (it happens to everyone), than just accept your feeling & regardless of the effectiveness of the workout, just show up & do what you can.
4. Mix up your workouts
We easily get bored of doing the same things over & over again and it applies to exercising as well. After a couple of sessions of the same workout, we start doing the movements automatically and quickly fall into constant thinking. To avoid this, try switching up your routine. It doesn't neccessarily means that you have to try a completely different style from what you've been doing, but maybe switch up a couple of movements, increase/ decrese rest, work time, reps or weight.
Hope you find these tips helpful.
